May 13, 2010 — The U.S. Department of Energy has issued for public review and comment a draft environmental assessment of the potential environmental impacts of building an internal road to safely ship radioactive material within the Idaho National Laboratory.
Recovery Act Funds Grouting Work to Protect the Snake River Plain Aquifer
June 14, 2010 — With the help of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds, the Idaho Cleanup Project continues work to protect the Snake River Plain Aquifer this week by injecting grout into 21 buried waste locations in the Subsurface Disposal Area (SDA) of the Radioactive Waste Management Complex (RWMC) at the Department of Energy’s Idaho Site.
Idaho Site Completes Cleanup Milestone Ahead of Schedule
June 24, 2010 — The Department of Energy’s Idaho Operations Office, through the efforts of its cleanup contractor, CH2M-WG Idaho (CWI), recently reached a key cleanup milestone three weeks ahead of schedule by completing the transfer of nearly 6.6 metric tons of spent nuclear fuel from wet to dry storage.

September 29, 2010 — The Idaho Cleanup Project safely completed a remedial action five weeks ahead of schedule that protects the Snake River Plain Aquifer by grouting buried waste at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Idaho Site.
Construction of Pit 9 waste retrieval enclosure complete at DOE Idaho Site
November 18, 2010 — Crews at the Department of Energy’s Idaho Site have completed construction of a building over Pit 9 at the Radioactive Waste Management Complex (RWMC) and expect to begin removing buried waste from the pit in December.

December 23, 2010 — The Idaho Cleanup Project recently received the largest incentive check ever awarded in eastern Idaho through Idaho Power’s Custom Efficiency program for taking steps to reduce its energy usage at the Idaho Nuclear Technology and Engineering Center at the Department of Energy’s Idaho Site.
